MIKIE T

"Be happy at what you're doing not how much money you're making", is the advice Mike's father had given him. In 1990, Michael Timmons sole proprietor of a Long Island based construction company decided a change was needed. Mike decided to pursue his lifelong passion for the open road and motorcycles.

In the beginning, Mike was a "self taught technician" and was known as the "neighborhood mechanic". Mike knew he needed to be better than the average motorcycle mechanic. In 1990, Mike enrolled in the highly accredited Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Michael graduated from Motorcycle Mechanic's Institute as Harley-Davidson certified mechanic.

Mike quickly found employment back in New York, as a parts manager for Suffolk Harley Davidson. Mike took this opportunity to further familiarize himself with Harley parts and accessories. Moving forward, Mike became the shop manager and mechanic at another Harley dealership Hempstead Harley in Hempstead, New York. As a shop manager and motorcycle mechanic Mike expanded his working knowledge of motorcycle repair. At Hempstead Harley, Mike fine-tuned his expertise in motorcycle electronics, fuel injection servicing and Harley brand-specific technical updates.

In 1995, Mike started 4M Motorcycle Maintenance. 4M (Mike's Mobile Motorcycle Maintenance) offers the unique service of a fully outfitted motorcycle shop and certified mechanic to the customer's home. The only business to do so, 4M provides the same full range services of standard shop, from standard maintenance and repairs to customizing motorcycles.

In the Spring of 1996, Mike became the host of Cablevision Extra Help Channel's Motorcycle Mechanics show. The show enabled Mike to share his philosophy on motorcycles, "It's always a good idea for anyone who rides a bike to learn at least the basics of motorcycle maintenance and mechanics." Mike feels that an educated rider makes for a better and safer rider. In January 1997, Cablevision combined Mike's motorcycle show with Steve Broncatello's auto show. The new show was dubbed "You Auto Know", the dynamic duo was not only entertaining and informative but very popular with the Cablevision subscriber's in the New York Metropolitan Area.

In June of 2002, Mike joined Chris Switzer and his former Cablevision co-host Steve Broncatello on Motormouth Radio 90.3 WHPC FM Radio in Garden City, New York. Together, this team combines their love of mechanics and teaching in a unique formula of providing up to date consumer information and answering questions from listeners who call into the show.
